Brain Imaging
The Whole Brain Atlas, a collaboration between MIT and Harvard, allows users to view pictures of human brains taken from several neuroimaging techniques, including MRIs, CT scans and PET scans. In addition to featuring "normal" brains, the site also features pictures of brains with cerebrovascular disease, brain tumors, degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, and inflammatory or infectious diseases such as multiple sclerosis.
 
Food Politics
Food Politics is a blog produced Dr. Marion Nestle, a professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health and Professor of Psychology at New York University. The site addresses a variety of issues related to food and politics, including the ethics of meat eating, anti-obesity initiatives, the agriculture industry, the genetic modification of food and food marketing and more. The site also summarizes and reviews relevant books and journal articles. 
 
Influenza
In this video Dr. Larry Brilliant discusses the bird flu pandemic, the risks and uncertainties humans face with regard to pandemics, and the mass media's accuracies and inaccuracies when it comes to covering such issues. 
 
Nutrient Data
A project stemming from the USDA's Agricultural Research Service, the USDA Nutrient Data Lab's mission is to develop authoritative food composition databases and state-of-the-art methods to acquire, evaluate, compile, and disseminate composition data on foods available in the United States. Through their nutrient database, users can research nearly 8,000 food items in order to find out their nutrient values and weights. A ground beef calculator also allows users to view nutrient information tailored to any fat or lean percentages for both raw and cooked meat. 
 
Exercise
This site from Harvard University considers the biomechanics of foot strikes and applications to running barefoot or in minimal footwear. The site discusses the human evolution of endurance running, foot and lower limb biomechanics when running in shoes vs. when running barefoot or in minimal shoes, differences between forefoot striking and heel striking, tools to assess the benefits of learning to forefoot strike, and tips for safely transitioning to barefoot running or running in minimal footwear. 
 
Medical Historians & Scholars
This is the site for Sigerist Circle, a group of medical historians established in 1990. The group is interested in the history of health, health care, and biomedical sciences, giving special consideration to issues of class, race and gender and Marxist, feminist and other critical methodologies. The site includes information about the group's annual meeting. 
 
Literature, Arts, Medicine Database
The Literature, Arts, & Medicine Database is a unique, comprehensive and accessible multimedia resource for teaching and research in medical humanities, defined as an interdisciplinary field of humanities, social science and the arts interested in medical education and practice. The site subdivides annotations into the categories of Art, Literature, Film/Video, and Theater. The site includes "meet the author" and "meet the artist" features and viewing, listening, reading, and screening rooms. The database is searchable by artist, annotation or keyword.
 
Center for Food Safety
According to their mission, the Center for Food Safety works to protect human health and the environment by curbing the proliferation of harmful food production technologies and by promoting organic and other forms of sustainable agriculture. Their site features summaries of food safety issues in the news, online petitions and campaigns regarding food safety legislation, a food shopper's guide to avoiding GMOs, and a list of relevant publications, among other resources.
 
Graphic Look at the State of the World
The Global Education Project is an attempt to provide an objective look at the state of the world, both its natural and human elements. Site features allow users to browse charts and graphs focusing on a variety of factors affecting the world, including global ecology, energy supply, fresh water, development and debt, weapons, human conditions, fishing and aquaculture, food and soil, toxic pollution, and wealth.  
 
Breastfeeding and childhood obesity
Breastfeeding has been shown to decrease childhood obesity. With one in five U.S. preschoolers being overweight and half of those children being obese, this site focuses on the key role hospitals play in encouraging and supporting breastfeeding mothers of newborns and how this, in turn, can decrease childhood obesity rates. The site provides tips for encouraging breastfeeding among new mothers, statistics regarding hospital and birth facility support of breastfeeding, and ways for parents, doctors, hospital administrators and others to increase the number of breastfeeding mothers.
